My Approach to Medicine I absolutely love being an Ob/Gyn. I knew from the first day of my Ob/Gyn rotation in medical school that this is what I was meant to be. I’ve never minded the long hours or late nights and weekends. It’s a little harder as I’ve gotten older and with my kids but I still love it. I love having delivered two, three and even four babies in a family. I like following women, young and old, through the various stages of life – puberty, |

childbearing years, perimenopause and menopause I consider myself a source of knowledge and information for my patients. I am not the type of doctor to tell a patient what she should or shouldn’t do. I provide information that is relevant and timely, point out other views or ideas and encourage the woman to decide what is best for her. When it comes to medicine and health, very little is black and white. It’s mostly shades of gray – and most healthcare needs to be individualized with the woman having the final decision with regards to what is right for her at any given time. My Background I grew up the middle of five kids in a small town in Southern Maryland. Somehow, I always knew I wanted to be doctor. My parents encouraged me and helped me all the way. My family is still very close. We all live within one hour of the house we grew up. We spend many holidays, weekends and free time together. Unfortunately, my father passed away last year. My mom is doing better now. I live in Pasadena with my husband, Todd, an emergency physician. We have three children, Claire (15), Zachary (9) and Camryn (8). We also have 4 cats – Calvin & Hobbs (14 yr old tabbies, siblings) and Jewels & Onyx (3 yr old tuxedo cats, siblings), a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Cypress (10 ½ and a cancer survivor), 2 dwarf hamsters, Squeaky and Dash, and numerous fish. I have become a triathlete in the last 2 years. I just completed my 2nd Columbia Olympic Distance Triathlon, shaving 11 minutes off my time from last year. I have several more planned this summer. In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, quilting, reading and crotcheting. Undergraduate: University of Maryland, Baltimore County, MD Graduate: University of Maryland School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD
